01 / 05Build vs. buy

What a from-scratch build actually costs.

Cryptocurrency payment gateway development from zero means node infrastructure across every chain, wallet and key management, compliance tooling, security audits — and a permanent team to keep it all alive.

The question isn't whether you can build it. It's whether it's worth a year and half a million dollars to rebuild what already exists.

02 / 05Delivery routes

Three ways to get your gateway.

Pick the depth of control you want — from building your own product on CPAY APIs to owning the entire deployment.

Route A · Build
SDK
Build your own gateway product on CPAY APIs. Your UX, your onboarding, your product decisions — our payment, wallet and payout rails underneath.
  • Full API surface: payments, wallets, payouts, webhooks
  • Typed clients, sandbox, integration support
  • You own the product end to end
Pricing
Transaction fee
Route C · Own it
On-Premise
The full CPAY platform deployed on your own infrastructure. Maximum control, data residency, and independence.
  • Runs in your environment, your jurisdiction
  • Full platform capabilities, self-hosted
  • Individual deployment & support plan
Pricing
One-time license

On every route you set your own merchant pricing — your platform fee is your margin on every transaction.

03 / 05What you get

What's inside the gateway you launch.

Not a skeleton to finish — a complete, production-grade gateway from day one.

Hosted checkout & payment links
Branded checkout pages, payment links and invoices — no-code for your merchants.
Merchant dashboard
Balances, transactions, payouts, reporting — the back office your merchants log into.
Wallets
Business wallets plus per-user wallets via API (WaaS) — for you and your merchants' customers.
Mass payouts
Payroll, affiliate rewards, airdrops — thousands of transfers in one batch, CSV or API.
Recurring billing
Subscription and scheduled payments, native to the same stack.
KYC & AML
Onboarding verification, KYT monitoring, sanctions screening — under your brand.
REST API & webhooks
Full programmatic control with signed, reliable webhooks for every event.
100+ assets · 8 networks
ETH, Tron, Base, Polygon, BNB, Solana, Arbitrum, BTC — one integration covers them all.

Custodial or non-custodial.
Your call.

Gateway development on CPAY doesn't lock you into one custody model — choose per product and per market, and change course as your licensing evolves.

Non-custodial
Your merchants control their own wallets and keys. Funds settle on-chain directly to them — lower regulatory burden for you as the operator.
Custodial
You manage funds under your own licence. The fit for embedded-finance products and licensed operators (MSB / VASP / EMI) who want full balance control.
04 / 05Delivery

From scoping to live in four steps.

A typical white-label SaaS or SDK delivery. On-premise deployments follow an individual plan.

  1. 1
    Scoping & custody model
Week 1 — your verticals, markets, custody choice and fee structure, mapped with our team.
  2. 2
    Branding & setup
Week 1–2 — domain, UI branding, merchant tiers and platform fees configured.
  3. 3
    Integration & testing
Weeks 2–3 — API integration (SDK route), webhooks, test transactions across networks.
  4. 4
    Go live
Week 4 — first real merchants, real settlement, with CPAY support alongside.
# delivery plan · white-label saas week 1 scoping · branding · fees week 2 merchant tiers · checkout week 3 integration · test txns week 4 go live # from-scratch equivalent month 1-18 still building…

A development agency hands you code.
We hand you working infrastructure.

Agency-built gateways come with a codebase you'll maintain forever — every chain upgrade, every security patch, every compliance change is your problem. On CPAY rails, you own the customer, the brand and the margin — and the rails stay our job, with an SLA.

FAQCommon questions

Questions, answered.

What founders and product teams ask before launching a gateway.

How long does crypto payment gateway development take with CPAY?
Typically 2–6 weeks from scoping to live transactions for the SDK and white-label SaaS routes: week 1 scoping and branding, weeks 2–3 integration and fee setup, week 4 test transactions and launch. On-premise deployments follow an individual plan. A from-scratch build usually takes 9–18 months.
How much does it cost compared to building from scratch?
A from-scratch gateway typically costs $300–500K+ in the first year for a team of 5–8 engineers — before infrastructure and compliance costs. CPAY pricing is custom to your delivery route: SDK is priced per transaction, white-label SaaS combines a monthly subscription with a transaction fee, and on-premise is a one-time license. Talk to sales for a quote scaled to your volume and model.
Do I own the product and the customers?
Yes. On every route the brand, pricing and customer relationships are yours. With the SDK you build and own your product on CPAY APIs; with white-label SaaS you run a branded gateway CPAY operates for you; with on-premise the full platform runs on your infrastructure.
Is the gateway custodial or non-custodial?
Your choice — CPAY supports both. Run non-custodial, where your merchants control their own wallets and keys, or custodial, where you manage funds under your own licence (common for embedded-finance products and licensed operators). You can choose per product and per market.
Can I set my own fees for merchants?
Yes. As an operator you define your own merchant pricing — your platform fee is your margin on every transaction, on top of transparent CPAY infrastructure pricing.
What about KYC and AML compliance?
KYC onboarding, KYT transaction monitoring, and sanctions/PEP screening are native to the CPAY stack and run under your brand — the gateway you launch is compliance-ready from day one, no separate vendor to stitch in. See KYC & AML.
